For the past several days many people including all of the Miqueas kids able to speak have been asking me what I want for my birthday!
I’ll tell you…
Today I came across this photo of my best friend Nate and myself drinking coconut water at a roadside stand here in Honduras. What you can’t tell from the photo is that this particular day it was more than 100 degrees outside, we were driving in a car with no a/c and these coconuts were ice cold.
Such is life as a missionary!
What struck me as I saw this picture again is how completely surrendered we are to the enjoyment of that moment.
…tasting the sweet cool water…
…feeling the rush of refreshment surge through us…
…not worrying about the rest of the world around us.
Even now as I look back I can still taste how beautiful that moment was.
This is how we were meant to live life.
Completely surrendered to something bigger than us…
This picture captured a whisper of salvation.
Salvation from what you may ask..
…from the heat of the day…
…from the weariness of the journey, a brief respite from the harshness of the Central American summer.
God meant for us to have life and life abundantly.
There will come a day when those who live their lives for Christ will experience this salvation in its entirety, when we go to be with God forever in heaven.
But the Gospel message does not stop there!
The good news of Jesus Christ applies to each and every one of our lives here and now! Wherever we are there is a possible change for your life if you trust in Christ and begin to live his plan for your life.
Just as refreshing as that cold coconut was for Nate and I on that hot day in Honduras, living out the plan that God has for your life allows you to completely surrender to live life and live it to abundance!
There is a choice, Follow God’s plan for your life or follow your own.
Even if you decide not to make a choice, you make it.
“…choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve…” Joshua 24:15b
Much like the picture however it requires complete surrender.
My wish is for everyone who reads this to “love one” today!
Share the good news about Jesus with someone today. It’s the best thing you can do with your time.
Happy Birthday Anyway!! and for yearsto come
